Moving Edson Annual Update. Moving Edson Executive Director Dawn Mitchell presented the organization's annual update to Council. Moving Edson has been providing mobility accessible transportation to Edson for over 40 years and serves residents 55+, as well as individuals of all ages with mobility or cognitive challenges. They also offer charter services, which helps offset some costs for their clients. More details can be found on their website at movingedson.com.

Election Sign Bylaw. Council has given all three (3) readings to Bylaw 2319, the Election Sign Bylaw. This bylaw outlines the regulations and fines associated with placement of Election Signs in the Town of Edson and comes into effect on May 1st, 2025.

Budget Spring Adjustments. A revised 2025 Operating and Capital Budget has been approved. The spring adjustments presented result in a municipal taxation levy reduction of approximately $309,000 from the original 2025 Operating Budget.  Council has also approved, in principle, the 5-Year Capital Plan.

2026 Budget Process. Administration presented the process and timeline for the 2026 Budget preparations. Public engagement will take place from April to August and will include a Budget and Public Satisfaction Survey, two (2) open houses, and three (3) focus groups. More information will be shared as the dates are set and further details are available.

Letter to the Province. Council has approved a letter to be sent to Alberta Municipal Affairs Minister Ric McIver highlighting concerns over Bill 50 and proposed changes to the Municipal Government Act, Local Authorities Election Act, and New Home Buyer Protection Act.

Next meetings— The next Town Council Meeting is scheduled for May 6, 2025, at 7:00 PM in Council Chambers. The next Committee of the Whole Meeting is scheduled for May 13, 2025, at 7:00 PM in Council Chambers.
