NEW RCMP Non-Emergency Phone Number
Posted on
A message from the Edson RCMP Detachment
The Alberta RCMP is always working to improve service delivery in the communities we serve. Providing effective policing means continually evaluating our services and, most importantly, listening to Albertans and responding to their needs.
One concern we’ve heard is the need for easier ways to report non-emergency crimes and incidents. At the same time, our operational communications centre (OCC) is experiencing a high volume of non-emergency calls, which can impact response times for real emergencies.
To address these concerns, we’ve introduced a new province-wide non-emergency phone number: 310-RCMP (7267). This number makes it simpler for Albertans to report non-emergencies while reducing confusion about which detachment to call. It also helps keep emergency service lines available for urgent situations.
Non-emergency calls still require police attention, but they don’t always need an immediate response. Using 310-RCMP allows us to prioritize high-risk situations, allocate resources effectively, and improve overall response times. We encourage everyone to report non-emergencies—no matter how minor—because every report helps us better serve our communities.
Key Points
- The new province-wide phone number for police non-emergency reporting is 310-RCMP (7267).
- Non-emergencies are incidents that do not pose an immediate threat to life or public safety, and may not require police attendance, but do require a police response.
- Examples of non-emergencies include minor motor-vehicle collisions, break and enters that have already taken place, lost property, property damage or theft under $5,000 in value, or scams where money or personal information was not transferred or provided.
- While these types of reports are important, they are not an emergency.
- For emergencies, call 911.
- To report non-emergencies online, download the Alberta RCMP app through Apple or Google Play. Alternatively, visit //www.rcmp-grc.gc.ca/ab and select Online Crime Reporting under quick links. This link is also available at www.edson.ca/rcmp.
