Aerial Fire Truck Capital Debenture. Council has given first reading to Aerial Fire Truck Debenture Bylaw No. 2321. This Bylaw would allow for the borrowing of a maximum of $2,750,000 with a maximum interest rate of 6% and a maximum term of 20 years for the capital purchase of an Aerial Fire Truck in 2025. This amount could be reduced based on potential surplus and other funding/grants, if available. A notice of the Bylaw will be published in the newspaper for 2 consecutive weeks. Following this, electors have 15 days to petition against the Debenture Bylaw.
Extended Producer Responsibility Update. Under the management authority of Alberta Recycling Management Authority (ARMA), the Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) program strives to remove or reduce waste at its source in Alberta. Although new to Alberta, both Ontario and British Columbia have implemented EPR Programs. Anne Auriat of the Edson & District Recycling Society (EDRS), presented to Council on some of the benefits and challenges under this new program and how it will impact the EDRS and recycling in the community. Council accepted the report as information.
