Keep the Sewers Clear

Use your noggin, don't be cloggin'
This week, while crews were inspecting a sewer main, we discovered a build-up of grease, paper towels, cigarettes and wipes in pipes that could have caused significant damage to surrounding properties. The pipes were close to being 100% obstructed. Luckily, it was caught in time.
This is a reminder to make sure to only flush items that are supposed to be flushed.
Do not flush:
- Cigarettes
- Paper towels
- Sanitary products of any kind
- Facial tissue
- Dental floss
- Fat, oils, and grease
- So-called 'flushable' wipes (regularly mislabelled and do not break down in sewers)
- Toys
- Clothing
- Hopes and Dreams ;-)
- Pretty much everything else that is not pee, poo, or toilet paper
These and similar items can cause expensive backups and system failures.
