EFD PRESS RELEASE - Structure Fire 53rd Street

On Monday, January 20th, at approximately 1620hrs, Edson Fire Department was dispatched to a reported structure fire in the area of 53rd Street and 6th Avenue.  

Edson Fire Department responded with two engines, a heavy rescue, and two command vehicles. Yellowhead County Fire Department also provided mutual aid with a third engine and command vehicle. Crews were also assisted by RCMP, Associated Ambulance, Atco, Fortis, and Town of Edson Utilities and Public Works. 

On arrival, a fully involved garage in the rear of a property was causing an exposure risk to two adjacent homes which were catching fire. Crews utilized multiple handlines to protect exposures and control the fire, including exterior and interior water application. Searches were conducted in both adjacent homes, and extensive overhaul took place to extinguish fire in void spaces. There was extensive damage done to all three structures involved, but no injuries were reported. 

The incident is under investigation with the support of a third-party investigator.
