Draft Land Use Bylaw. Council has passed first reading of Draft Land Use Bylaw No. 2296 (Land Use Bylaw). A second Public Hearing will be held on June 4th, 2024, at 7:00 p.m. at the Edson Civic Centre prior to further readings. This follows two years of work on the Land Use Bylaw (LUB) to work towards a final draft that meets the following principles:

  • Increase Flexibility
  • Simple, Concise & Purposeful
  • Clear & Easy to Interpret
  • Visually Pleasing & User Friendly
  • Be Enforceable
  • Follow Best Practice

2024 Capital Projects Update. Council has accepted a report on the status of 2024 Infrastructure and Operations Capital Projects as information. 

Wase Creek Flood Assessment.  A report from ISL Engineering and Land Services Ltd. on Wase Creek flooding mitigations has been accepted as information by Council. The report was commissioned following the flooding issues in June 2023 and lists recommended upgrades and measures to reduce flooding concerns along the creek.

Alberta Rural Health Week. May 27 to 31, 2024 has been proclaimed as Alberta Rural Health Week in the Town of Edson.

Willmore Park. Council has approved $75,000 to cover the cost of rehabilitating the Ridgeview Campground at Willmore Park, to be funded from the Revenue Sharing Agreement Reserve. Administration will also be applying to include the costs in the Disaster Recovery Program funding from the Province if it meets the requirements.

Information Items. Council has accepted the RCMP Q4 Report as information. 

Next meetings – A Committee of the Whole Meeting is scheduled for May 28, 2024, at 7:00 pm, in Council Chambers. The next Town Council Meeting is scheduled for June 4, 2024, at 7:00 pm, in Council Chambers.
