Utility Bylaw. Council has passed Utility Bylaw No. 2301, updating utility regulations for the Town of Edson. These changes promote fairness, sustainability, and efficient service delivery for residents.

Fees and Charges Bylaw. Council approved Fees and Charges Bylaw No. 2318, which sets the various rates for the Town of Edson, including Leisure Centre fees, utility rates, business and animal licence fees, planning charges, and more. The bylaw aligns with the approved 2025 budget.

Electronic Assessment and Tax Communications Bylaw. The Town is going digital! With Bylaw No. 2316 now in place, residents can receive assessment and tax notices electronically, making the process faster, more convenient, and environmentally friendly.

Tax Penalty and Preauthorized Payment Plan Bylaw. Council gave all three readings to Bylaw No. 2317 which updates the Town’s tax penalties and preauthorized payment plans. These changes encourage timely payments and provide property owners more flexible options.

Substitute Returning Officer. Karly Williams has been appointed as the Substitute Returning Officer for the 2025 Municipal Election.

Property Tax Exemption. Council granted a property tax exemption for Reflections - Society for Empowering People to Succeed, for the main building which is utilized for drop-in programs and safe accommodations. 

Letter of Support for Edson Lions Club. Council authorized the Mayor to provide a letter of support for the Edson Lions Club’s application to the Community Facility Enhancement Program Grant. The grant would fund upgrades to the Lions Club Campground, enhancing its value as a community resource.

YCE Multiplex Project Update. Exciting progress continues on the YCE Multiplex Project! The latest update confirms plans for construction to begin in Spring 2025. Watch the construction page for updates at www.ycemultiplex.ca.  

Motions Out of Closed Session

  • Council has authorized the Mayor and CAO to extend the Intermunicipal Collaboration Framework Bylaw for another two years, now running until December 31, 2026.
  • The Mayor has been authorized to finalize the CAO performance evaluation, as discussed in Closed Session.

Next meetings— The next Town Council Meeting is scheduled for January 21, 2025, at 7:00 PM in Council Chambers.
