Town of Edson Operations During Canada Post Strike
The Town of Edson will not be mailing physical copies of Utility invoices, notices and other important information to residents due to the ongoing Postal Strike. Edson residents are encouraged to register for electronic billing. Details on how to sign up and make payments during the strike are noted below.
Residents are advised against sending payments for taxes, utilities or other invoices through the mail.
Please note that there is no change to due dates for amounts owing and late charges will still apply if payment is made late.
The Town has made the following arrangements to assist residents and ensure the continuity of customer service during the disruption in postal service:
- A physical copy of the Utility invoice can be printed at the Civic Centre located at: 605 - 50 Street Edson, AB;
- Signing up for e-billing to have invoices sent directly to email by sending an e-mail to our Utilities Clerk at utclerk@edson.ca;
- Mail directed to the Town of Edson can be dropped off at the Civic Centre during office hours or via drop box and the front doors after hours;
- The following payment options are available:
- Pre-Authorized Debit (PAD): Save time and money by having payments automatically deducted via personal or business bank accounts on or about the same day each month;
- Tax Instalment Payment Program (TIPP): For property tax installment payments, residents are encouraged to contact the Town office to enroll in a monthly tax installment plan. To enroll, please call 780-723-4401;
- Drop Box: Cheque or money order payments can be made in the 24-hour drop box at the front of the Civic Centre office;
- Cash, Cheque or Debit: Are accepted at the Civic Centre office. The office is open Monday to Friday 8:00am to 4:00pm;
- Local Bank or Trust Company: Payments can be made at local banks or trust company during normal office hours;
- Telephone Banking: This option is available through most banks and trust companies;
- Internet Banking: This option is available through most banks and trust companies;
- Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT): This option allows for payments to be sent via EFT to receipts@edson.ca.
- Important: Please included the name on the invoice as well as the account number.
- OptionPay: Pay online via Interac e-Transfer or credit card.
- Note: OptionPay applies a convenience fee to cover payment handling and processing charges.
