Council Notes - May 16th, 2023

Delegation. The Edson Flying Club approached Council requesting a review of the aircraft parking fees that were increased within the 2023 Fees and Charges Bylaw.

Truth and Reconciliation Report. Council has accepted the 2023 Truth and Reconciliation Initiatives report as information. The report outlines projects and policies relating to Truth and Reconciliation such as a Land Acknowledgement Policy, changes to the current Flag Policy, updates to the Town website, learning opportunities for Council, staff and related boards and committees, and an increased partnership with community partners. Council noted that more work needs to be done in some of these areas, and requested more engagement at the higher levels as the Town continues to move forward on these initiatives. This aligns with Council’s Strategic Plan pillar of ‘Creating a Connected Community that is Safe and Inclusive’, which includes the goal of ensuring relevant calls to action from the Truth and Reconciliation Commission report are enacted.

Direct Control Delegation of Authority. Decision-making authority has been transferred to the Development Officer for the construction of a single-family dwelling on a Direct Control Lot at 6424 17thAvenue.

Next meeting - The next Council meeting is scheduled for June 6, 2023, at 7:00 pm. The next Committee of the Whole meeting is set for June 13, 2023, at 7:00 pm.
